🛬 Day 1: Arrival – Bagdogra/NJP to Phuentsholing
Welcome to Bagdogra/NJP! Meet our professional guide and drive to Phuentsholing. After completing immigration formalities, check-in at your hotel.
Phuentsholing (Alt. 300 m / 985 ft) is a thriving commercial town at the foothills of the Himalayas, where Indian, Bhutanese, and Nepalese cultures blend. It serves as an important entry/exit point to Bhutan.
Evening: Enjoy a downtown walk.
Overnight stay: Phuentsholing
🏙️ Day 2: Phuentsholing to Thimphu
After breakfast, drive to Thimphu. En route, visit:
- Zangtho Pelri Lhakhang
- Crocodile Breeding Centre
- Kharbandi Goenpa
Upon arrival, check into the hotel. Thimphu (Alt. 2,320 m) is the capital of Bhutan, known for blending modernity with ancient traditions. With a population of ~90,000, it’s the only capital city in the world without traffic lights.
Evening: Explore the Handicrafts Emporium and local crafts bazaar.
Overnight stay: Thimphu
🕍 Day 3: Thimphu Full-Day Sightseeing
After breakfast, enjoy a city tour:
- Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Dordenma)
- Handicrafts Emporium
- National Library
- Changangkha Monastery
- Zorig Chusum (Institute of 13 Traditional Arts & Crafts)
- Textile Museum
- National Memorial Chorten
- Craft Gallery
- Folk Heritage Museum
Afternoon:
- Takin Preserve (home of Bhutan’s national animal)
- Tashichho Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion)
- Craft Bazaar Market
Overnight stay: Thimphu
🌉 Day 4: Thimphu to Punakha/Wangdue – Local Sightseeing
After breakfast, drive to Punakha/Wangdue. En route, visit:
- Dochula Pass (Alt. 3,100 m): A panoramic viewpoint with 108 chortens
- Suspension Bridge: One of the longest in Bhutan
- Punakha Dzong: A majestic fortress at the confluence of Pho Chhu (male) and Mo Chhu (female) rivers, known as “The Palace of Great Happiness”
Check-in at hotel.
Overnight stay: Punakha/Wangdue
🏞️ Day 5: Excursion to Phobjikha Valley – Back to Punakha
After breakfast, drive to the stunning Phobjikha Valley (Alt. 3,000 m / 9,845 ft).
Visit:
- Gangtey Goenpa Monastery: A 17th-century Nyingma monastery
- Phobjikha is the winter home of the endangered Black-Necked Cranes, which migrate from Tibet in October and return in April. It is among the most scenic and tranquil places in Bhutan.
Return to Punakha.
Overnight stay: Punakha/Wangdue
🏯 Day 6: Punakha/Wangdue to Paro – Local Sightseeing
After breakfast, drive to Paro. En route, visit:
- Simtokha Dzong: The first dzong built in Bhutan (1629)
- National Museum of Bhutan: Housed in the ancient Ta Dzong, it features art, artifacts, and Bhutanese culture
- Rinpung Dzong: Built in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal
- Nya Mey Zam Bridge: Also called “The Bridge with No Fish”
Overnight stay: Paro
⛰️ Day 7: Excursion to Chele La Pass – Back to Paro
After breakfast, drive to Chele La Pass (Alt. 3,988 m), the highest motorable road in Bhutan, located between Paro and Haa Valley.
Enjoy the scenic drive through dense forests and catch views of:
- Waterfalls
- Rhododendron forests
- Yaks
- Mt. Jomolhari (22,000 ft), Jichu Drake & other peaks on a clear day
Return and relax in Paro.
Overnight stay: Paro
🧗 Day 8: Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang)
After a hearty breakfast, gear up for an unforgettable hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang).
Perched on a cliff, this sacred site is where Guru Rinpoche (the second Buddha) meditated after flying in on a tigress’ back.
The hike takes 3–5 hours depending on your pace, with stunning views of blue pines and rhododendron forests.
Return and relax at your hotel.
Overnight stay: Paro
🚗 Day 9: Paro to Phuentsholing
After breakfast, drive back to Phuentsholing.
Evening: Enjoy a leisurely walk around the main street and market area.

👋 Day 10: Departure – Phuentsholing to IXB/NJP
After breakfast, complete the exit formalities with assistance from our professional guide and proceed to Bagdogra Airport / NJP Railway Station.
