🗓️ Day-Wise Itinerary
🚞 Day 1: Arrival at Bagdogra/NJP – Drive to Phuentsholing
Welcome to Bagdogra Airport / NJP Railway Station. Upon arrival, drive to Phuentsholing. After completing immigration formalities with the assistance of our guide and tour operator, check into your hotel.
Phuentsholing (altitude 300m / 985 ft) is a bustling commercial town at the Himalayan foothills, blending cultures from India, Bhutan, and Nepal.
Evening:
Take a leisurely downtown walk.
🛏️ Overnight stay at a hotel in Phuentsholing.
🏙️ Day 2: Phuentsholing – Drive to Thimphu
After breakfast, begin your scenic drive to Thimphu. En route, visit:
- Zangtho Pelri Goenpa
- Crocodile Breeding Centre
- Kharbandi Goenpa
On arrival in Thimphu, check into your hotel.
Thimphu is a unique capital city where ancient traditions coexist with modernity. With a population of around 90,000, it’s perhaps the only capital city in the world without a single traffic light.
Evening:
Visit the Government Handicrafts Emporium and local crafts bazaar for Bhutanese arts and crafts.

🏞️ Day 3: Full Day Thimphu Sightseeing
After breakfast, enjoy sightseeing in Thimphu:
- Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Dordenma)
- Handicrafts Emporium
- National Library
- Changangkha Monastery
- Zorig Chusum (Institute of 13 Arts & Crafts)
- Textile Museum
- National Memorial Chorten
- Craft Gallery
- Folk Heritage Museum
Afternoon:
- Takin Preserve Centre (Home to Bhutan’s national animal – the Takin)
- Tashichho Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion)
- Craft Bazaar Market
🛏️ Overnight stay in Thimphu.
🦢 Day 4: Thimphu – Punakha/Wangdue via Dochula Pass
After breakfast, proceed to Punakha. En route, visit:
- Dochula Pass (3,100m) – Offers panoramic views of the Eastern Himalayas.
- Suspension Bridge – One of the longest in Bhutan, over the Pho Chu River.
- Punakha Dzong – Located at the confluence of Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. Known as “The Place of Great Happiness”, it is one of Bhutan’s most beautiful and significant fortresses.
🛏️ Check in and overnight stay in Punakha/Wangdue.
🏯 Day 5: Punakha/Wangdue – Drive to Paro | Paro Sightseeing
After breakfast, head to Paro. En route, visit:
- Simtokha Dzong – The first Dzong built in Bhutan by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1629.
- National Museum of Bhutan – Located in Ta Dzong, above Rinpung Dzong.
- Rinpung Dzong – Built in 1646; now houses administrative and monastic offices.
- Nyamai Zam Bridge – Known as the “Bridge with No Fish”.

🌄 Day 6: Day Trip to Chele La Pass (3,988m) | Night Stay in Paro
After breakfast, drive to Chele La Pass, the highest motorable road in Bhutan. The scenic drive passes through dense forests of spruce and larch. On a clear day, enjoy views of:
- Mt. Jomolhari (over 22,000 ft)
- Jichu Drake and other peaks
- Paro and Haa Valleys
🛏️ Return to Paro for overnight stay.
🧗♂️ Day 7: Paro – Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang)
After breakfast, get ready for a memorable hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), perched on a 900m cliff.
- Hike Duration: Approx. 6 hours (round trip)
- The legend says Guru Rinpoche flew here on a tigress’s back and meditated for 3 months.
🛏️ After the hike, return to your hotel and relax. Overnight stay in Paro.
🚘 Day 8: Paro – Drive to Phuentsholing
After breakfast, drive back to Phuentsholing.
Evening:
Explore the local market and Main Street.

🚗 Day 9: Departure – Phuentsholing to Bagdogra/NJP
After a hearty breakfast, complete exit formalities and drive to NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport.
