🗓️ Day-Wise Itinerary
🚞 Day 1: Arrival at Hasimara – Drive to Thimphu (via Phuentsholing)
After pick-up from Hasimara Railway Station, complete immigration formalities at Phuentsholing, then begin your scenic drive to Thimphu with en route sightseeing:
- 🛕 Zangto Pelri Lhakhang – A modern temple built in the 1990s representing Guru Rinpoche’s celestial abode.
- 🏞️ Kharbandi Gompa – A serene monastery overlooking the plains of India, built by the late Queen Mother Ashi Phuntsho Choden.
Drive onward to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital, nestled in the Himalayas.
Evening visit:
🛍️ Handicrafts Emporium & Local Bazaar – Explore textiles, thangka paintings, jewelry, and traditional crafts.
🛏️ Overnight stay in Thimphu (Altitude: 2,320m)
🏙️ Day 2: Full Day Thimphu Sightseeing
After breakfast, enjoy local sightseeing:

🏞️ Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha/Wangdue – Local Sightseeing
After breakfast, drive to Punakha via the scenic Dochula Pass (3,100m), offering panoramic Himalayan views.
On the way:
- 🌉 Suspension Bridge – One of Bhutan’s longest
- 🏯 Punakha Dzong – Magnificent fortress at the confluence of Pho and Mo Chu Rivers
- ⛩️ Chimi Lhakhang – The Fertility Temple built in the 14th century
- 🕍 Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten – A spiritual temple built to remove evil and promote harmony; short hike required
🛏️ Overnight stay in Punakha/Wangdue
❄️ Day 4: Excursion to Phobjikha Valley – Return to Punakha
After breakfast, drive to Phobjikha Valley (approx. 2.5 hours, altitude: 3,000m):
- 🕍 Gangtey Goenpa Monastery – A large Nyingma monastery overlooking the valley
- 🌿 Phobjikha Valley – Winter home of the endangered Black-Necked Cranes, with stunning landscapes
- 🛕 Nyelung Dechenling Temple – One of eight sacred sites of Longchen Rabjam
- 🏞️ Visit scenic villages, wetlands, and enjoy peaceful walks in the valley
🛏️ Return and overnight stay in Punakha
🏯 Day 5: Punakha to Paro (via Wangdue) – En Route Sightseeing
After breakfast, drive to Paro. Enjoy breathtaking river and mountain views on the way. Optional activity:
🚣 Rafting & Kayaking – On the Mo Chhu River (optional; pre-arrangement required)
🛏️ Check-in and overnight stay in Paro
🌄 Day 6: Paro Local Sightseeing
After breakfast, explore Paro’s historical and cultural landmarks:
- 🛕 Simtokha Dzong – Bhutan’s first Dzong built in 1629
- 🖼️ National Museum of Bhutan – Housed in the ancient Ta Dzong
- 🏯 Rinpung Dzong – An impressive fortress housing monastic and civil offices
- 🌉 Nyamai Zam – Known as the “Bridge with No Fish”
🛏️ Return and overnight stay in Paro
🚗 Day 7: Excursion to Chele La Pass – Return to Paro
After breakfast, drive to Chele La Pass (3,988m) – Bhutan’s highest motorable road.
- 🏔️ Enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Jomolhari, Jichu Drake, and surrounding peaks
- 🌲 Scenic drive through forests of spruce, larch, and rhododendrons
- 🐂 Look out for grazing yaks and wildlife depending on the season
🛏️ Overnight stay in Paro
🧗 Day 8: Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang)
After breakfast, gear up for a thrilling trek to Bhutan’s most iconic site:
- ⛰️ Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang) – Perched on a 900m cliff, this sacred site is reached via a 6-hour round-trip hike.
- 🐅 Legend says Guru Rinpoche flew here on a tigress’s back and meditated for three months.
🛏️ Return and overnight stay in Paro
🚗 Day 9: Departure – Paro to Hasimara via Phuentsholing
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and drive back to Phuentsholing, passing beautiful mountain scenery and waterfalls.
🚉 Complete exit formalities at Phuentsholing and proceed to Hasimara Railway Station for your onward journey.
